Local couple wins $100K lottery prize

Jun 15, 2016 | 1:07 PM

It’s not every day you purchase something of great value from your local 7-Eleven.

But when Arlene and Dean Deery scanned their winning Extra ticket, they knew they’d reaped the luck of the draw by winning $100,000.

“I checked the ticket on the ticket checker in the store, and I couldn’t count all the zeroes,” Arlene said. “So I scanned the ticket again to count them again. I’ve never seen so many zeroes.”

The couple could hardly believe their luck. Just to be certain the ticket they had was a winner, they quickly went to another ticket check at another store and ran it under the scan bar

The same amount of zeroes came up.

After accepting their dreams as reality, the couple cashed in their ticket. They plan to pay off all of their debt and add on to their home with the hopes of building a garage.

“We’ll be debt-free,” Dean said. “It won’t put us on easy street, but it takes out some of the pot holes.”

The Lotto 6/49 Extra ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven food store at 1752-100 St. in North Battleford.
