Brody Siebert goes back to his roots for Sask. Country All Stars Concert

Jun 15, 2016 | 10:35 AM

Part of the Dekker Centre’s new season line-up is a night for kicking it country.

The night will offer a selection of country music artists including local talent from Battleford, Silverwoood, Medstead and Hawarden.

Brody Siebert is pleased to be a part of the Sask. Country All Stars, a group collaboration featuring original songs as well as covers of country classics.

“It means a lot to be performing at the Dekker Centre,” Brody said. “To even come and play, the acoustics are awesome.”

When it comes to group collaboration, Siebert said he was honoured to be a part of such a talented group of people. He said he especially enjoyed collaborating with Brock Andrews from Wilkie and is planning to continue his tour with Andrews in tow, traveling to various parts of Alberta and B.C.

“He and I will be touring together this year and (North Battleford) will be the first date we’ll be playing together. It’s good to get the music out there,” Siebert said.

Siebert’s style encompasses a mix of both rock and country, but he said country music is the genre which best speaks to him.

“It’s just where my roots are, growing up in a small farming community,” Siebert said. “It always came back to where my roots were.”

Siebert said his music has been influenced by many country musicians through the years, ranging from the sounds of Gary Allen to the voice of Waylon Jennings. When asked which musician with whom he would want to jam, he said it would be none other than with the man who made Saskatoon shake not so long ago.

“Garth Brooks, definitely,” he said with a smile, “seeing as I only seen him last week.”

Brody Siebert will be playing live at the Dekker Centre with fellow country musicians, Brock Andrews, Mandy Ringdal and Battleford’s own Bruin Eberle. The show takes place September 17, 2016.
