A group of budding young engineers from the northwest have been awarded for their robotic creation at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic myRobotRumble SUMObot Challenge 2016 in Saskatoon.

Craig Hewko and Hunter LeDrew from Neilburg placed third in the competition with their robot “Monte”.

Teams of two from across the province spent the month building, programming and testing robots made from SUMO robot kits, which are provided by Sask Polytech.

The crew from Neilburg Composite School took home a prize of $500 tuition credit to a Saskatchewan Polytechnic diploma program in the School of Mining, Energy and Manufacturing, as well as Monster SuperStar BackFloat Bluetooth speaker and $50 cash.
