Mar 31, 2016 | 6:40 AM

An accused murderer was busted out of lawful custody last night.

Braidy Chase Vermette, 28, is facing a charge of First Degree Murder in the death of Troy Cecil Napope in 2015.

Police were dispatched to the Victoria Hospital at 10:34 p.m. after receiving a report of bear mace being used. While enroute, police were informed Vermette had escaped in a dark S.U.V, when arriving at the hospital for a laceration on his arm.

During the incident, two masked people approached the correctional officers who were transporting Vermette.

One of them had a gun, the other bear mace. The bear mace was used on the correctional officers. They were not seriously injured in the incident.

Police said Vermette seemed to have gone willingly with the suspects.

Vermette is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached. He is described as 6’02”, 240lbs, with black short hair and brown eyes.

Vermette was scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday, April 4.

Police are currently investigating and ask anyone who has information to call the PAPS or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-TIPS.
