Arrests made in cabin break-ins

RCMP have made several arrests, in connection with break-ins and vehicle thefts over the last several months, in the resort areas north of the Battlefords.

Two adults, aged 19 and 20, and seven youths ranging in age from 12 to 17 face a total of 81 charges. Police say all of the suspects are from the Moosomin First Nation near Cochin. They are accused of breaking into cabins in resort communities at Jackfish Lake, as well as stealing vehicles.

Investigators have recovered guns, vehicles, and other property. Charges include unauthorized possession of firearms, careless use and storage of a firearm, failing to comply with court orders, theft under $5,000, vehicle theft, and break and enter.

According to an RCMP release, the nine suspects are out on conditions, with court dates set during February and March at North Battleford Provincial Court.
