College career exciting next step for Battlefords goalie

Feb 9, 2016 | 5:50 AM

A goalie for the Battlefords Midget AAA Sharks is looking forward to playing college hockey.

Chloe Marshall, 17,  of Neilburg is headed to Northland College in Wisconsin to play NCAA Division III hockey for the LumberJills next fall.

Marshall has been playing hockey since she was three and said it’s great to see her efforts pay off.

“It feels incredible because I put so much work into wanting to further my career so it feels good to finally get rewarded for all the hard work.”

Her play as a goalie for the Sharks was only one part of why Northland offered her a spot on the team.

“They definitely look at grades as a very important thing and play as well too,” she said, “but they also require you to take an SAT.”

Despite her future plans, she adds she is still in the present as she finishes the season with the Sharks.

Marshall will be part of the very first LumberJills women’s hockey team, who are joining Northland’s hockey program for the 2016-17 season.
